School playing fields excepted this is just about the last green space remaining on Bowbridge Road. There are many potential alternative uses that would either preserve the green space or return it to leisure use. The building of 87 dwellings as outlined in the planning application would not only destroy an area of green space that is well utilised by many local residents, it would also have a detrimental effect on local residents with regard to privacy and traffic. A further issue is the loss of a possible extension to Newark cemetery in future years.
