UPDATE 06/11/2019 - this planning application is now showing as permitted on the NSDC planning portal which presumably means that work will progress. This is bad news but we must continue the fight against the loss of recreational space in Newark.

Newark's largest recreational space is under threat due to the proposed enlargement of the Yorke Drive estate. Under these plans, which have apparently been approved although no record of this exists, the current green space will be drastically reduced. As this and the smaller playing field at Cedar Avenue (also under threat) are the only green spaces in this part of Newark, any reduction will have a detrimental effect on the health and wellbeing of the residents in what is already one of the most deprived areas in the town.
